Rome ceremony to signal UNESCO bid for historic Roman highway.

Italy is shifting ahead with the candidacy course of to have the By way of Appia Antica inserted within the UNESCO World Heritage Listing, in what’s the first such bid promoted immediately by the Italian tradition ministry.

The bid will then be despatched to the Worldwide Council on Monuments and Websites (ICOMOS), the Paris-based advisory physique to the World Heritage Committee.

In a press release, the tradition ministry stated the highway’s “well-preserved infrastructural, archaeological, architectural, funerary and civil testimonies” symbolize a “cultural heritage of remarkable significance.”
