Street Transport and Highways Secretary Aramane Giridhar has been named the brand new defence secretary as a part of a top-level bureaucratic reshuffle effected by the Centre on Wednesday.

Aramane Giridhar, a 1988 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as an Officer on Particular Responsibility within the Division of Defence.

He’ll take over as Defence Secretary after the retirement of Ajay Kumar on October 31, 2022, a Personnel Ministry order mentioned.

Alka Upadhyaya, chairperson of the Nationwide Highways Authority of India, would be the new Street and Transport Secretary rather than Giridhar.

Monetary Providers Secretary Sanjay Malhotra would be the new Income Secretary.

He has been appointed as an Officer on Particular Responsibility within the Division of Income.

The officer will take over because the Income Secretary after Tarun Bajaj completes his time period on November 30, 2022.

Vivek Joshi, Registrar Normal of India and Census Commissioner, Ministry of Residence Affairs would be the new Secretary, Division of Monetary Providers rather than Malhotra.

Mritunjay Kumar Narayan, Further Secretary within the Residence Ministry, would be the new Registrar Normal of India and Census Commissioner rather than Joshi.

As many as 16 secretaries have been appointed in several central authorities departments in Wednesday’s reshuffle.

Rural Improvement Secretary Nagendra Nath Sinha has been named the brand new Metal Secretary.

Shailesh Kumar Singh, Further Secretary and Improvement Commissioner within the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, would be the new Rural Improvement Secretary from December 1.

Shailesh Kumar Singh has been appointed because the OSD within the Division of Rural Improvement, Ministry of Rural Improvement, the order mentioned.

Amrit Lal Meena, who’s presently Particular Secretary (Logistics), Division for Promotion of Business & Inner Commerce, would be the new Coal Secretary.

Kamran Rizvi is appointed because the Officer on Particular Responsibility within the Ministry of Heavy Industries and he’ll take over because the secretary after Arun Goel superannuates from the submit on December 31.

Rachna Shah, Further Secretary within the Division of Commerce, has been named as the brand new Textiles Secretary.

Sanjeev Chopra, a 1990 batch IAS officer of the Odisha cadre, has been named as Secretary of the Division of Meals and Public Distribution.

He’ll change Sudhanshu Pandey, who retires this month-end.

Manoj Govil, a 1991 batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, has been appointed Secretary within the Ministry of Company Affairs.
