An Arthur Metropolis man was arrested Tuesday after police mentioned he assaulted his girlfriend and ruptured her spleen at a Paris motel.
Jason Lane Mauldin, 26, is being held at Lamar County Jail on a bond totaling $50,000 for a warrant charging him with aggravated assault inflicting critical bodily damage.
Paris cops responded to an assault at 6:32 p.m. July 29 at Paris Regional Medical Heart and made contact with emergency room workers who mentioned a lady had been assaulted.
In response to courtroom information, ER workers informed the officer that the lady suffered a ruptured spleen as a result of an assault.
The officer spoke to the lady who mentioned she had an argument with Mauldin in a King’s Inn resort room. She mentioned Mauldin turned very offended and commenced punching her stomach space, face and proper ear, in response to courtroom information.
A detective assigned to Paris Police Division’s Prison Investigations Unit reviewed the lady’s medical information from July 29 and located that her spleen needed to be eliminated.
If convicted, Mauldin faces as much as 20 years in jail for the assault.
