Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s time on the annual U.N. Basic Meeting was lower brief Thursday night when the nation’s high diplomat rushed to be together with his father, who died in a single day at 96 years previous.
“My household misplaced a father or mother and grandparent, a supply of affection and inspiration — my father Donald Blinken,” Blinken introduced in a tweet late Thursday. “A member of the U.S. Military Air Corps, a U.S. Ambassador, president of the Mark Rothko Basis, chair of the State College of New York dad served his metropolis, state and nation.”
The secretary of state rushed from the United Nations in Manhattan — the place its annual summit is being held this week — to be together with his household on Lengthy Island on Thursday, NBC Information’s Andrea Mitchell reported on “Morning Joe” early Friday morning. Donald Blinken, a former U.S. diplomat, funding banker and fashionable artwork collector, died peacefully at his dwelling in East Hampton on Thursday, based on the Related Press.
