A rise in burglaries in Calpe and neighbouring municipalities positioned within the Marina Alta and Marina Baixa areas was reported in July.
The offenders chosen potential aged victims and phoned them up pretending to be from an electrical energy firm, providing them reductions of their future payments and making an appointment to seal the deal of their properties.
5 suspects have now been arrested.
