It was my drama instructor, George Tsakisiris, who inspired me to enrol at WAAPA [the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts]. I didn’t come from a performing arts household; I had no thought what WAAPA was. He directed our college musicals and would make us combine tapes of songs from Lease, Grease and Chess – reveals he’d seen in New York – that I’d take heed to continuous.

I didn’t have many relationships till I met my husband, [entertainer] Chris Horsey, at 24. Chris was introduced in as a choreographer on my pricey good friend Matthew Lee Robinson’s Metro Avenue present in 2004 and needed to choreograph me in a single tune.
