A person has died after he fell into the River Thames whereas evading police seize.
Officers have been within the strategy of arresting the person, however hadn’t but placed on handcuffs, when he broke free.
His physique was discovered within the water two hours later after a serious search operation.
A Met Police spokesperson informed Metro.co.uk: ‘At round 10.30pm on Friday, 26 August, police on routine patrol have been flagged down on Kingston Bridge to a verbal altercation involving a person and a girl who have been recognized to one another.
‘An allegation of theft was made. Officers have been within the strategy of arresting the person, believed to be aged in his 20s, when he entered the water. He had not been positioned in handcuffs.
‘A multi-agency response to find the person was launched, involving the Met’s Marine Policing Unit, Nationwide Police Air Service, London Hearth Brigade and the RNLI.
‘The person was recovered from the water at round 00:30hrs and handled by paramedics. Regardless of their efforts, he was pronounced useless. The person’s household have been knowledgeable.’
A referral has been made to the Unbiased Workplace for Police Conduct (IOPC).
