MEPs toughen EU legislation on deforestation


MEPs on Tuesday stiffened language in a textual content aimed toward curbing imports of products linked to deforestation by widening its scope to incorporate rubber and maize.

The choice, voted 453 in favour and 57 in opposition to, fixes the European Parliament’s stance forward of negotiations that may happen with EU member states over “imported deforestation”.
