Modi-led authorities has spent over Rs 900 crore on advertisements in media since 2019



The Bharatiya Janata Get together-led Centre has spent Rs 911.17 crore on commercials throughout print, tv and web media platforms from 2019 until June this 12 months.

The information was offered by Minister of Data and Broadcasting Anurag Singh Thakur in response to a query raised by senior Congress chief Digvijaya Singh within the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.

Of this, Rs 98.69 crore was given to 270 channels between 2019 and 2020. From 2020 to 2021, the federal government gave Rs 69.81 crore to 318 channels. Within the 2021 to 2022 interval, Rs 29.30 crore was spent on 265 channels. Within the present monetary 12 months, Rs 1.96 crore has been spent on advertisements on 99 channels.

Expenditure on print commercials was a lot increased at Rs 690.83 crore since 2019, the information confirmed.

From 2019 until 2020, the BJP authorities gave Rs 295.05 crore for advertisements in 5,326 newspapers. The next monetary 12 months, Rs 197.49 crore was spent on commercials in 5,210 newspapers. The federal government spent Rs 179.04 crore on advertisements in 6,224 newspapers from 2021 until 2022, and Rs 19.25 crore within the present monetary 12 months.

Based on the figures, the federal government has spent funds amounting to Rs 20.58 crore on advertisements in net portals since 2019, Thakur mentioned. Fifty-four web sites got Rs 9.35 crore for advertisements in 2019, 72 web sites received Rs 7.43 crore in 2020, 18 websites got Rs 1.83 crore in 2021, and 30 portals received Rs 1.97 crore within the present monetary 12 months.

In December, the Centre had advised the Lok Sabha that it had spent Rs 1,698.89 crore on commercials in print and digital media between 2018 and 2021.

In July 2021, Thakur had advised Parliament that the federal government had reduce commercial expenditure by lowering the dimensions of non-communication commercials resembling inviting tenders or job vacancies.
