The 28-year-old photojournalist was awarded the Pulitzer for the protection of COVID pandemic for Reuters

New Delhi: Pulitzer-winning Kashmiri photojournalist Sanna Irshad Mattoo has stated she was stopped from flying to america by immigration authorities on the Delhi airport “regardless of having a sound visa and ticket”.

The 28-year-old photojournalist, who was awarded the Pulitzer for the protection of COVID pandemic for Reuters, was scheduled to fly to New York on Monday.

“I used to be on my technique to obtain the Pulitzer award (@Pulitzerprizes) in New York however I used to be stopped at immigration at Delhi airport and barred from travelling internationally regardless of holding a sound US visa and ticket,” Mattoo tweeted on Tuesday.

She stated this was the second time she was stopped from travelling overseas up to now 4 months.

“That is the second time I’ve been stopped with out cause or trigger. Regardless of reaching out to a number of officers after what occurred few months in the past, I by no means acquired any response.

“Having the ability to attend the award ceremony was a as soon as in a lifetime alternative for me,” she added.
