Britain’s longest-serving monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, has died. Her dying prompted a wave of public mourning and triggering the instant ascension of Prince Charles as King.
The Queen, born in Mayfair, London on April 21, 1926, died at Balmoral Citadel in Scotland simply 17 months after the dying of her beloved husband Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.
