Sri Lanka proclaims sale of a part of nationwide provider on account of disaster | Predominant | English version


The federal government of Sri Lanka introduced Monday that it’s going to privatize two subsidiaries of the nation’s nationwide airline, SriLankan Airways, as a part of the measures to stabilize the nation’s battered economic system.

“The loss is borne by the federal government. The loss made by the Sri Lankan Airways throughout this time (since 2010) is Rs 401 billion (round $5.02 billion),” Ports, Transport and Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva mentioned at a press convention in Colombo.

“Our problem is find out how to keep the airways. It’s exhausting to take care of the airways with this type of giant loss. Subsequently, the federal government has determined that this restructure is important,” he added.
