Tamil Nadu MP DMK’s A Raja Sparks Row

DMK chief A Raja’s remarks on caste at a gathering right here has sparked an issue, with the BJP accusing him of spewing hatred. 

Mr Raja, Nilgiris MP and DMK’s deputy basic secretary, stated Shudras have been insulted in Manusmrithi and denied equality, schooling, employment and entry into temples.

“You’re a Shudra until you stay a Hindu. You’re the son of a prostitute until you stay as Shudra. You’re a Panchaman (Dalit) until you stay a Hindu. You might be an untouchable until you stay a Hindu,” he stated whereas addressing a gathering of Dravidar Kazhagam right here.

In a video that went viral in social media he was heard saying, “What number of of you want to keep as kids of prostitutes? What number of of you want to stay untouchables? Provided that we’re vocal about these questions, it is going to grow to be elemental in breaking Sanathana (dharma).”

The previous Union Minister claimed that the Supreme Court docket had dominated that if one just isn’t a Christian, Muslim or Persian, then one needs to be a Hindu. “Is there some other nation meting out such cruelty?” he questioned.

Mr Raja, who took to Twitter to precise his view, requested “Who’re Shudras? Are they not Hindus? Flaying him, BJP State chief Okay Annamalai termed his justification as “a sorry state of political discourse in Tamil Nadu.”

“@arivalayam MP has but once more spewed hatred towards one group with the only real goal of appeasing others. Very, very unlucky mindset of those political leaders who suppose they personal Tamil Nadu,” he tweeted.

BJP Mahila Morcha nationwide president Vanathi Srinivasan stated Raja has insulted the ladies and Hindus on quite a few events.
