A loggerhead turtle laid 131 eggs at a seashore in Guardamar on Tuesday – ‘the biggest variety of all of the nests discovered on the shores of the Valencia area in recent times’, reported Torrevieja city corridor biologist Juan Antonio Pujol.
The emergency protocol for nesting turtles was activated by seashore cleansing employees early that morning at Playa les Ortigues, the closest seashore to neighbouring La Mata.
The veterinary officers carried out a radical examination of the turtle, discovering that it was in good well being.
