ATLANTA (AP) — A hearth broke out on the rooftop of a skyscraper below building in downtown Atlanta on Wednesday, bringing dozens of firefighters and law enforcement officials to the positioning close to Centennial Olympic Park.
Flames have been seen on the roof of the 32-story tower, sending a darkish column of smoke into the sky. Building staff spilled out of the constructing earlier than firefighters extinguished the blaze.
Known as The Metropolitan at Atlanta, the tower is slated to be an 835-bed, 265-unit residence, geared toward Georgia State College college students. Permits filed in 2021 when building started valued the work at $56 million.
The constructing is meant to be accomplished in August 2023. Whereas its metal and concrete construction has been erected, the interiors stay unfinished.
The constructing’s developer and contractor didn’t instantly reply to requests for remark.
