EU leaders will threaten to impose contemporary sanctions on Belarus if it continues to assist Russia’s conflict in Ukraine, in line with draft conclusions of this week’s summit. Leaders will urge Minsk “to cease enabling the Russian conflict of aggression” and say Europe “stays prepared to maneuver rapidly with additional sanctions towards Belarus if wanted.” Russia is planning to station 9,000 troopers in Belarus and shortly maintain joint live-free army drills.
