Srinagar: A Kashmiri Pandit died and his brother was injured after they have been shot by militants in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, police mentioned.

A police official recognized the deceased as Sunil Kumar and the injured as Pintu Kumar.

“Terrorists fired upon civilians in an apple orchard in Chotipora space of #Shopian. One particular person died and one injured. Each belong to minority group. Injured particular person has been shifted to hospital. Space #cordoned off. Additional particulars shall comply with,” a police spokesperson mentioned.

Militants have stepped up assaults within the Kashmir valley over the previous week. A policeman was killed in Nowhatta on Sunday and a migrant labourer in Bandipora final week.

Two grenade assaults befell in Budgam and Srinagar districts on Monday.
