Liberation of Crimea is a ‘shut prospect’: Ukraine deputy FM | World | English version

Ukraine’s first deputy minister of overseas affairs, Emine Dzhaparova, believes the liberation of the peninsula annexed by Russia is “a really shut prospect” whereas denouncing the rising persecution confronted by the Tatar minority in Crimea.

“Russia has been attempting to colonize the peninsula,” she tells Efe in an interview, including that as much as a million Russians have moved to Crimea since its unlawful annexation in 2014 whereas many Ukrainian residents have left as a result of “huge violations of human rights”.

In accordance with Dzhaparova, who’s a Crimean Tatar, the state of affairs for the minority has been worsening since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February.
