A person has been arrested in reference to a verbal hate crime in opposition to a LaSalle household in early August, Montreal police confirmed on Thursday.

In a assertion, the SPVM stated that on Aug. 11 officers responded to a 911 name positioned for a person who was verbally harassing a racialized household, yelling at them to return to their nation.

“Your private home is India. India or Pakistan,” the person is heard saying to Nadisha Hosein and her husband and daughter in French in a video recording of the incident.

Hosein stated each she and her husband, although of South Asian heritage, had been born in Montreal and communicate French.

Hosein filed a report with police, who stated the incident had been handed over to the power’s hate crimes unit.
