Speaker of the US Home of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, landed Tuesday evening at Songshan airport in Taipei, defying a number of stern warnings from Beijing that her “reckless” go to to Taiwan would have “disastrous repercussions”.
Pelosi, the third-highest rating US politician, is probably the most senior American official to go to the island in 25 years.
