Australia’s largest publicly owned wind farm will likely be in-built Queensland, with Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk pouring $766 million into the challenge as she seeks to reboot the state’s power coverage.

“It’ll additionally create round 200 jobs throughout development and 15 ongoing jobs when operational,” Ms Palaszczuk stated.

“It’s investments like this that can guarantee we ship on our net-zero ambitions and our promise to Queenslanders to develop into a worldwide renewable power superpower.”

The challenge is about 30 kilometres south-west of Kingaroy, within the state’s Southern Queensland Renewable Vitality Zone.

Palaszczuk has signalled a significant local weather and power announcement at her State of the State deal with on Wednesday.

Vitality Minister Mick de Brenni stated the challenge would improve the state’s renewable power fleet by seven per cent.

“It’ll get rid of one million tonnes of CO2 emissions every year from our power system,” he stated on Monday.

“That’s the equal of taking 320,000 vehicles off the street.”
