Subway evacuation occurred on free public transport day in Rome.

The Metro B station at Rome’s central Stazione Termini was evacuated on Saturday afternoon after smoke started seeping out onto the tracks, in response to Italian information reviews.

There was no person injured within the incident which occurred in the course of the free public transport day as a part of the town’s occasions to mark European Mobility Week.

The capital’s public transport firm ATAC laid on substitute buses to serve the metro line overground as firefighters investigated the reason for the smoke.

The fumes should not believed to have been attributable to a hearth, Italian media reviews, and the metro resumed its common service within the late afternoon.

The subway evacuation is the newest in a sequence of high-profile incidents to have an effect on Rome’s public transport community this week, together with dozens of commuters being locked inside Cornelia metro station throughout a public transport strike on Friday.
