Tamil Nadu Legislative Meeting Speaker and DMK chief M Appavu’s month-old assertion attributing the event of the state to Christians and that Tamil Nadu would have been Bihar if Catholic Christians weren’t there has sparked an issue.
Final month on June 28, Appavu and DMK LMA Inigo Irudayaraj participated within the centenary celebrations of St Paul seminary in Tiruchirappalli.
Talking on the occasion, Appavu had mentioned, “If Christian Fathers and Sisters weren’t there, Tamil Nadu would have been like Bihar. Now the month-old speech of Appavu’s has gone viral on social media. The BJP attacked the DMK and condemned the Tamil Nadu Meeting Speaker over the problem.
Tamil Nadu BJP state vp and spokesperson Narayanan took to social media and slammed Mr Appavu for his speech.
“Is that this DMK’s Secularism? They’ve misplaced their declare to name themselves a secular get together. Now this proves that DMK is an anti-Hindu get together,” he added.
In the meantime, Appavu criticised BJP for allegedly politicising the problem.
