Russia’s decrease home of parliament proposed a legislation Thursday that overseas nationals who publish LGBTQ+ “propaganda” must be expelled from the nation and fined, Russian state media TASS reported.

The invoice suggests “punishing propaganda of non-traditional values” with an administrative high quality of 100,000 to 200,000 rubles (€1,650-€3,300) and subsequent expulsion from Russia, if the “crime” is dedicated amongst adults, together with on the web. If minors are concerned, a steeper high quality is proposed.

This invoice could be one other weapon in Russia’s repressive arsenal towards LGBTQ+ folks. A so-called homosexual propaganda legislation, which prohibits distributing amongst minors details about what Russia calls “non-traditional existence,” has been in place in Russia for nearly a decade.

Russia’s parliament has been stepping up its rhetoric towards the LGBTQ+ group in latest days, linking the warfare in Ukraine to the combat towards Western “decadence,”
